The story
Originally from Gongaga, Zack Fair joins Shinra's SOLDIER with the ambition of becoming a hero. Placed under the tutelage of Angel Hewley, he adopts her sense of honor and grows closer to Aerith in Midgar. However, the disappearance of Angel and Genesis during the Wutai War leads him to the heart of the secret experiments of Project G. After the death of his mentor, Zack inherits the Buster Sword and continues on his path, remaining faithful to the values that he was taught.
Sent to Nibelheim with Sephiroth and the young infantryman Cloud, Zack witnesses the hero's descent into madness after his discoveries in the Mako reactor. Severely wounded during the confrontation, he is held captive for four years by Hojo, who conducts experiments on him and Cloud. Zack manages to escape and protects his companion until they reach the outskirts of Midgar, where Shinra troops kill him. Before dying, he entrusts Cloud with his sword, his dreams, and his honor, making him his living legacy.
