The story
Toru Amuro appears as a twenty-nine-year-old private detective, as sociable as he is perceptive. Impressed by Kogoro Mouri's deductions, he becomes his apprentice and works part-time as a waiter at Café Poirot, located beneath the detective agency. His intelligence, physical abilities, and affable manner make him an effective investigator as well as a favorite with the customers.
Amuro, however, is an assumed identity. His real name is Rei Furuya, a Japanese public security agent infiltrated within the Black Organization under the code name Bourbon. He investigates Shuichi Akai, whom he has long held responsible for the death of his friend Hiromitsu Morofushi, while simultaneously pursuing his own objectives within the criminal organization. Wary of the FBI but aware of Conan's talents, he can become a crucial ally when their interests align.
