The story
A former classmate of Ranma's and rival since their arguments over meals, Ryoga Hibiki has such a terrible sense of direction that he misses their duel and then chases Ranma all the way to China. In Jusenkyo, he is thrown into the spring of the drowned black piglet and has since transformed into a small black piglet with the cold water. When Akane takes him in without knowing his identity, she names him P‑chan and makes him her pet.
Ranma quickly realizes that Ryoga Hibiki and Ryoga are one and the same, but keeps it a secret while teasing his rival. In love with Akane, Ryoga takes advantage of his cursed form to stay close to her, despite the guilt and embarrassing situations it causes. In his human appearance, he compensates for his wanderings with exceptional strength and endurance, and later learns techniques like the Breaking Point and the Shishi Hōkōdan. A bitter enemy of Ranma, he also becomes one of his most reliable allies against common dangers.
