About
The story
As a child, Luffy met Shanks in Fuchsia Village and ate the fruit that made his body elastic. When Shanks saved him from a sea monster at the cost of his arm, he entrusted him with his straw hat. Luffy then promised to become a great pirate and return this precious symbol.
Setting sail to become the Pirate King, he assembles the Straw Hat crew and successively confronts pirates, privateers, and the World Government. His determination grows with each island and each ally he protects. After the events of Wano and the awakening of Gear 5, Luffy is recognized as one of the Four Emperors.
