About
The story
A child of the lawless Zaraki district, he faces Unohana and proves so powerful that he unconsciously holds back his abilities to continue experiencing combat. After defeating the previous captain of the eleventh division, he takes the title of Kenpachi. His headband absorbs his spiritual energy to give his opponents a fighting chance.
His duel against Ichigo awakens a part of his strength, but it is a deathmatch against Unohana that fully releases the barriers he had imposed upon himself. Kenpachi then finally hears Nozarashi's voice and discovers his Shikai. During the war against the Wandenreich, Yachiru also transmits a devastating Bankai to him against Gerard Valkyrie.
