The story
Himmel is the hero who unites Frieren, the priest Heiter, and the warrior Eisen to conquer the Demon King. Their journey lasts ten years and ends in victory. Although he never manages to pull the Hero's Sword from its pedestal, he chooses to prove his worth through his actions. Always ready to help someone in need, he has statues erected along his path, as much for the sake of his image as to preserve the memory of their adventure.
After the group disbanded, Himmel went on with her life while Frieren went her own way. Fifty years later, now an old man, he reunited with his companions to observe the Era meteor shower once more. He died shortly after, and his funeral revealed to Frieren all that she had never known about him. His kindness, his words, and his affection continued to accompany the sorceress: the memories of their first quest became the invisible thread of her new journey.
