About
The story
Raised on Whale Island by his aunt Mito, Gon Freecss learns from Kite that his father, Ging, is alive and working as a Hunter. Determined to find him, he takes the Hunter Exam, where his instincts, exceptional senses, and frankness allow him to bond with Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. After obtaining his Hunter License, Gon learns Nen at Heaven's Arena from Wing. A Enhancer, he develops the Jajanken, a rock-paper-scissors-based technique that concentrates his aura into three forms.
His quest leads him to York Shin, into the game Greed Island, and then to the heart of the Chimera Ant Crisis. When Neferpitou confirms Kite's death, Gon sacrifices his full potential to immediately gain the power necessary for his revenge. This transformation allows him to defeat Pitou, but nearly destroys his body. Saved by Nanika's power thanks to Killua, he finally meets Ging at the top of the World Tree. Deprived of the use of Nen as he knew it, Gon then returns to Whale Island.
