About
The story
The first demon slayer Tanjiro encounters, Giyu Tomioka is about to kill Nezuko when she defends her brother despite his demonic nature. He then spares the young girl and sends the Kamado family to his master, Sakonji Urokodaki. Having become a Water Pillar, Giyu is distinguished by his precise mastery of his breath, of which he has developed an eleventh form called Calm.
His apparent coldness masks a deep guilt: during the Final Selection, his friend Sabito sacrificed himself while Giyu survived without defeating a demon himself. Convinced he doesn't deserve his title, he isolates himself from the other Pillars until Tanjiro helps him accept the legacy of those who saved him. He then fully resumes the fight, confronts Akaza alongside Tanjiro, and then participates in the final battle against Muzan.
