The story
A disciple of Happosai alongside Soun Tendo, Genma becomes a master of the Saotome School of all-around martial arts. From childhood, he takes Ranma on a long training journey to mold him into his heir, employing dangerous methods and making self-serving promises. In Jusenkyo, he falls into the Drowned Panda Spring: the cold water transforms him into a giant panda, while the hot water restores his human form.
Living with the Tendo family, Genma is counting on Ranma and Akane's engagement to unite the two schools and ensure the dojo's future. However, he prefers to avoid the consequences of his past decisions, such as the commitment he made to Ukyo's family. In his panda form, he communicates using signs and readily takes advantage of the situation to avoid explanations. Behind his comical cowardice and manipulations, he remains an experienced fighter, capable of teaching Ranma formidable techniques.
