About
The story
Originally from Meteor City, Chrollo Lucilfer founded the Phantom Troupe with several childhood friends and became its leader. The organization acts like a spider: Chrollo is its head, but he maintains that the group must survive even if the spider disappears. A highly intelligent specialist, he uses Skill Hunter, a book from which he steals the Nen abilities of others after fulfilling several conditions. His calm demeanor, strategic mind, and apparent detachment make him as dangerous as he is enigmatic.
In York Shin, Chrollo orchestrates the massacre at the auction and the theft of treasures coveted by the mafia. Kurapika manages to capture him, however, and places a chain on him, preventing him from using his Nen or contacting the Phantom Troupe. After this restriction is lifted, Chrollo meticulously prepares for his duel against Hisoka at Heaven's Arena and defeats him by combining several stolen abilities. Hisoka's resurrection and the murder of two members of the Phantom Troupe trigger a new manhunt, which leads Chrollo and the Troupe aboard the Black Whale.
